A  "major milestone" is in plans for a carbon capture energy facility at the Teesworks site.

The Development Consent Order (DCO) for the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) Power scheme has been approved by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.

This decision represents a significant step forward in the efforts to establish a carbon capture energy facility at the Teesworks site, close to Redcar, as highlighted by the Tees Valley Combined Authority.

The project's objective is to establish the first gas-fired power station in the world with the capability of carbon capture and storage.
