SGN welcomes Simon Kilonback as new Chief Executive Officer
SGN has announced that Simon Kilonback will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer, effective later this calendar year. Having joined SGN in September 2023 as Chief Financial Officer, Simon will succeed Mark Wild, who is moving on to manage the HS2 high-speed rail project.
A highly respected leader, Simon brings extensive experience from safety-oriented companies that are integral to the UK's critical national infrastructure. He previously served as the CFO of Transport for London for five years, where he successfully navigated complex challenges.
In his new position, Simon’s priorities will include maintaining SGN’s unwavering focus on safety, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting the most vulnerable customers. He will also guide the company through the upcoming GD3 price control process.
SGN Chair Becky Lumlock commented:
“Simon is a talented and experienced leader who has already made a significant impact at SGN, prioritising investment in our frontline operations to ensure we continue to keep all our customers safe and warm. He is a driving force in creating the conditions for future success and ensuring our network plays a vital role in the resilient national energy system necessary for achieving net zero.
“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Mark Wild for his service and achievements during his time with SGN, and we wish him the best in his future endeavours.”
Simon Kilonback added:
“I am honoured to lead SGN, which plays a crucial role in our national energy infrastructure. We have an exceptional team and an exciting future ahead as we strive to build one of the UK’s most respected engineering and asset management companies.
“We remain committed to keeping our communities safe and warm, serving millions of households and businesses, while also contributing to a fair and affordable energy transition.”
