Regional gold for Luxfer’s hydrogen advances
Nottingham-based Luxfer Gas Cylinders has been awarded the prestigious Make UK Midlands Innovation Award for its pioneering work in hydrogen technology, positioning the company for the national finals in January 2025.
As the world’s largest manufacturer of high-pressure composite and aluminium cylinders, Luxfer received the award earlier this month at the Make UK Manufacturing Awards, which celebrates exceptional contributions across the UK manufacturing sector. Judges recognised Luxfer’s dedication to advancing hydrogen systems and infrastructure, commending the company’s substantial investment in research and development across teams in the UK and North America. This commitment underscores Luxfer’s role in driving the anticipated growth of hydrogen as a clean energy solution.
Lucy Morris, Marketing Manager at Luxfer Gas Cylinders Europe, commented, “We’re honoured to receive this recognition from Make UK, especially in innovation, which is core to our work. Our highly skilled alternative fuel experts are leading the way in hydrogen technology by building on decades of experience in safe gas containment to deliver clean, sustainable solutions.”
Chris Corkan, Region Director for Make UK in the Midlands, noted, “These awards celebrate the exceptional companies and individuals shaping the future of engineering and manufacturing in the Midlands. As our economy grows, there is a bright future for those who push the boundaries of innovation.”
