Out for Comment: IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4 - Tightness testing and direct purging of small Liquefied Petroleum Gas/Air, Natural Gas and Liquefied Petroleum Gas installations
This Standard has been drafted by an Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) Panel, appointed by IGEM’s Gas Transmission and Distribution Committee and has been approved by IGEM’s Technical Coordinating Committee on behalf of the IGEM Council.
IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4 deals with all aspects of tightness testing and direct purging of small Liquefied Petroleum Gas/Air (LPG/Air), NG and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) installations with or without a meter of maximum badged capacity not exceeding 16 m3/h and supply MOP (MOPu) not exceeding 2 bar.
IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4 does cover installations on Caravan and Leisure Accommodation Vehicles (LAVs). For tightness testing of small LPG installations in boats, yachts, crafts and other vessels, PD 54823 or BS EN ISO 10239 apply, as appropriate. For volumes exceeding 0.035 m3, IGE/UP/1 applies.
Note: IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4 was already sent out to comment in 2023, recommendations from the Industry resulted in the panel making changes to test procedures and thus the draft needs to go back out to industry comment. We will only be accepting comments on 5.3.1.1, 5.3.2.1, 5.3.3.1 and Appendix 8.
If you wish to comment on this Standard, please download the draft and comment form and return by the deadline of 25 March 2025.
