New partnership forged with South Korea to share and strengthen gas safety expertise

The Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) and the Korea Gas Safety Corporation (KGS) are excited to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

IGEM CEO Oliver Lancaster and IGEM President David Tomkin visited the KGS hydrogen testing facility

The partnership aims to exchange information in gas safety, standards, education, and share best practices.

Park Kyung-guk, President of Gas Safety Corporation, and Oliver Lancaster, IGEM’s CEO, signed the MOU at the headquarters of the Gas Safety Corporation in Chungbuk Innovation City in South Korea on 8 April 2025.

Park Kyung-guk, said: "This agreement will strengthen the global cooperation network in gas safety standards between the two countries.

"The Korea Gas Safety Corporation will expand international cooperation with organisations in various countries to secure international standards and advanced technology information."

Oliver Lancaster said: “It’s only through working together that we can successfully address the global challenge of achieving net zero quickly and affordably. I’m delighted to have an MOU in place with KGS as we both strive to lead the industry in its transition to a low carbon future and learn from each other along the way.”
