Following the news last year that the gas networks will be leaving the Energy Networks Association (ENA) at the end of 2024, the IGEM team have worked incredibly hard with the leadership teams from all five networks in GB to put in place arrangements to organise their collaborative work through IGEM instead.
We have set up a new subsidiary entity under IGEM to organise their collaborative work, called ‘Future Energy Networks’ (or ‘FEN’), which has officially gone live today (1 August 2024). FEN will be led by James Earl, who you may well be familiar with from his former Director of Gas role at the ENA. James has moved over to FEN, along with a number of other ENA staff, whom we are delighted to welcome into the IGEM team!
This new organisation is seeking to understand and present the changes needed to deliver a safe, secure and sustainable energy system, and will work with its members to coordinate the effective management of today’s networks while moving towards the energy networks of the future.
FEN and IGEM will work closely together, benefitting from the shared expertise of both teams, individual members and the end-to-end industry supply chain.
