Simon Langdale, Synthotech’s Engineering Director, leads the development of innovative, locally manufactured robotics, focusing on strong partnerships and collaboration. As a chartered engineer with an MBA, Simon has a background in sales, marketing, consultancy, research, and engineering, bringing a well-rounded approach to his role.
Simon’s key focus is on green technology and the utilities sector, where he works on designing and manufacturing products that improve field productivity, safety, and environmental performance. His expertise lies in building multidisciplinary teams that integrate electronics, control systems, and mechanical engineering to create solutions for complex and challenging environments.
With a particular interest in mechatronic and robotic systems, Simon has contributed to developing technologies that help utility networks reduce leakage, minimise roadworks, and enhance customer service. He represents Synthotech at international conferences and is involved in collaborative initiatives like WYCA, PipeBOTS, UK-RAS, and mentoring UK tech start-ups.
