IGEM Explores: Biomethane
IGEM Explores, an initiative from the Scottish Section, is designed to connect industry professionals and look into key areas of our dynamic and ever-evolving energy sector. This interactive webinar series takes place every second Tuesday of the month and will provide a platform for collaboration, learning and networking.
Biomethane offers proven, comparatively low-cost green solutions which are suitable for areas where electrification is challenging such as home heating and heavy goods transport. It can be carbon neutral, or even carbon negative! Green Gas Solutions is a commercial, non-regulated part of SGN which specialises in biomethane - funding, designing, building, operating and maintaining gas-to-grid sites across the UK.
As Head of SGN Green Gas Solutions, Annabel engineers solutions which decarbonise the gas grid. Annabel has a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cambridge University, is a fellow of IMechE and is a chartered engineer with both IGEM and IMechE. Annabel has a varied background in projects, maintenance, and design including roles as head of engineering policy in the SGN regulated business, senior engineering manager at Gatwick Airport and shift manager for Nestle UK. Annabel is passionate about the engineering industry creating a greener future for everybody – taking on roles such as vice chair of the IMechE Oil, Gas and Chemical committee, acting as a STEM ambassador and sponsor of the SGNs women’s committee.
