Drivers urge manufacturers to boost hydrogen investment
A recent Venson Automotive Solutions survey highlights that 63% of UK drivers believe vehicle manufacturers should invest as much in hydrogen fuel cell technology as they do in electric vehicles (EVs), following government incentives to boost hydrogen vehicle production.
While 11% of respondents would definitely choose a hydrogen-powered vehicle, if it were comparable in price and infrastructure to EVs, 39% would consider both options and decide based on budget and preferences.
Alison Bell, Venson's Marketing Director, emphasised the need for increased investment and innovation in hydrogen vehicles, stating that affordability and practicality remain top priorities for drivers. Venson's latest white paper, On the Road to Hydrogen, outlines the benefits and challenges of hydrogen, electric, and natural gas power for fleets, stressing the importance of additional infrastructure for broader hydrogen adoption. Bell also noted that with more investment, hydrogen vehicles could become a more viable option for future fleets.
