This Gas Industry Standard specifies requirements for the performance of leak repair systems applicable to all grades of Polyethylene (PE) gas mains operating at pressures up to 2 bar in the UK, and up to 4 bar in Ireland. The specification is for the repair of PE pipe sizes 63 mm up to 355 mm (all pipe SDRs) within the installation temperature range of -5°C to 30°C.

This Gas Industry Standard (GIS) specifies the physical, chemical and mechanical performance requirements of sealant materials used to repair an existing metallic pipe over its lifetime, at an in service temperature range of between -5°C to +30°C for below ground applications and -20°C to +50°C for above ground applications, operating at pressures of up to and including 75mbar or 2bar.

This Gas Industry Standard specifies the requirements relating to internal methods of repairing leaking ferrous gas mains operating at a maximum working pressure of up to 2 bar. These requirements apply to internal repairs to grey cast iron, ductile iron and steel distribution mains with either lead yarn or mechanical type joints.

This part of GIS/LC8 specifies requirements for external encapsulation systems for the repair of joints in gas mains operating at a maximum working pressure of 2 bar and in the temperature range −20 °C to 50 °C. It does not cover the use of joint or pipe clamps.

This Gas Industry standard specifies the requirements relating to external methods of repairing leaking ferrous gas mains operating at a maximum working pressure of either 2 bar or 7 bar using split fittings suitable for use on grey cast iron, ductile iron and steel distribution mains.
