Who can join IGEM?
We offer three types of membership: Individual, Company (previosly known as Industrial Affiliate) and Housing Partner.
- Individual membership is open to anybody working in or interested in pursuing a career in the gas industry
- Company membership is open to any organisation connected to the gas industry
- Housing Partner membership is tailored especially for UK social housing providers
What are the different grades of membership?
There are several membership grades to choose from depending on your current career stage, your qualifications and the skills and experience you have gained.
For more details, visit the Which Grade? page.
Can I change membership grade?
Yes. Many individuals join us as an Engineering Associate so that they can enjoy the benefits of being part of our network whilst we help them work towards professional registration.
You can make a request to transfer from one grade to another by visiting My IGEM, and submitting a request form.
Alternatively, contact us to speak to a member of the team.
Can I renew my membership online?
I used to be a member. Can I re-join?
Re-joining us is simple and in many cases, there is no need for you to complete the application process again.
How do I know if my degree is accredited?
The Engineering Council’s accredited course database provides details of academic qualifications that partially or fully satisfy the education requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
Even if your qualifications are not accredited, IGEM can still help you to become a professionally registered at your chosen grade.
Contact our membership services team who will be more than happy to advise you.
