Course summary
This engaging course examines steel and polyethylene pipelines for the distribution of odourised gas or un-odourised dry natural gas and liquified petroleum gas (LPG). It considers the principles for design, construction, inspection, testing and operation of these pipelines as presented in IGEM/TD/3 Edition 6. The material will closely examine how the standard informs every aspect of gas distribution and delivery.

- Legal considerations applicable to steel and polyethylene pipelines
- Design and planning controls that impact steel these pipelines
- Construction controls including planning, safety, excavation, jointing
- Pressure testing, commissioning and decommissioning best practice
- Operation and maintenance, including management; monitoring; preventative, planned and breakdown maintenance
- Alterations and connections to live pipelines
- Maintaining comprehensive records across the project lifecycle and its constituent actors
- Additional measures that impact activity related to liquefied petroleum gas
