IGEM Explores, a new initiative from the Scottish Section, is designed to connect industry professionals and look into key areas of our dynamic and ever-evolving energy sector. This interactive webinar series will take place every second Tuesday of the month and will provide a platform for collaboration, learning and networking.

Our second webinar will be delivered by Harvey McIntosh and will have a focus on safety in the Energy Sector.

Harvey McIntosh is a Human Factors Specialist working for SGN with 6 years’ experience. He currently leads on integrating Human Factors into major infrastructure and future of energy projects, as well as supporting the wider business with the development of organisational systems which centre around the user. Harvey has experience working across multiple safety critical industries including gas, nuclear, defence, marine, and rail.

Harvey’s key focus is on setting up the human operator of a system to succeed. He works with designers to incorporate a user-centred approach to design for both technological and organisational solutions. By understanding the characteristics of people, safety, efficiency, and usability can be enhanced.

With a particular interest in future technologies, Harvey has contributed to usable design of robotics, the design of hydrogen operation control rooms, and the development of learning pathways to secure future Human Factors talent.
