Recognition of training workshop

Following an audit, a group of awarding organisations - plus two independent training providers - became the first to be initially recognised for delivering the highest gas training standards.

Recogniser of training workshop

As reported, IGEM is now the Authoriser for Recognition of Training, and as such granted the group initial recognition as being compliant with its guidance document IGEM/IG/1.

The IGEM/IG/1 guidance, Standards of training gas work, has been selected as the agreed governance document by the gas industry's Strategic Management Board (SMB) for new entrants.

The awarding organisations and independent training providers will receive full recognition of their training standards following another round of audits, commencing this month as part of a three-year rolling programme.

The list of Authorised Recognisers of Training (ARTs) and Authorised Independent Training Providers (AITPs) will be published on the Energy & Utility Skills website in due course.

IGEM is calling for all independent training providers, including company-based trainers, to come forward and learn more about becoming an Authorised Training Provider. In line with the industry's requirements for high quality training, all new entrants to the gas industry must receive Recognised Training in order to be eligible for accredited assessment and subsequent Gas Safe registration.
