IGEM launches new scholarships, grants and awards programme for developing engineers

IGEM has announced the launch of a new scholarships, grants and awards programme to support the gas engineers of the future.

The scheme is made up of three scholarships for students at different stages of their academic careers, plus grants to support those students who are struggling to pay for their studies.

In addition, the EngTech of the Year Award will recognise and reward one outstanding EngTech member and the contribution they are making to the gas sector, industry and wider community.

The announcement was made by the Institution's first female President Sheila Lauchlan at IGEM's Sir Denis Rooke Memorial Lecture, at London's No.11 Cavendish Square, during which Professor Dame Ann Dowling spoke about the power of education, research and innovation.

President Sheila Lauchlan said: "The purpose of IGEM's scholarships, grants and awards is to support future engineers on their educational journey and beyond.

"Our mission is to inspire innovation, entrepreneurship and personal development, so we want to recognise and reward the achievements of developing engineers wherever we can."

More details on the programme and how to apply will be announced shortly.
