Membership Workshops

This free workshop is for individuals wishing to become professionally registered as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) who do not hold academic qualifications accredited as meeting the education requirements of UK-SPEC.

Preparation of a technical report allows you to demonstrate that you have gained sufficient engineering and management knowledge whilst working to meet the criteria for achieving IEng or CEng status.

If you have applied for IEng or CEng membership with us and have been advised that you will need to prepare a technical report then attending this workshop is a great way to fully understand what you will be required to produce. You'll also pick up lots of advice and tips on how to get started.

If you've already started writing your technical report but need some assistance then come along and discuss your progress with our technical report assessors who will be on hand to answer your queries.

IGEM mentors are also welcome to attend this workshop to support their candidates.

This free training session is for any professionally registered Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) interested in helping others to achieve professional registration.

Becoming an IGEM mentor can be an enriching and rewarding experience. You'll gain the satisfaction of knowing that you've helped fellow professionals to achieve their goal of attaining EngTech, IEng or CEng status and acting as a mentor contributes to your continuing professional development.

The purpose of this workshop is to equip you with the knowledge and skills that you will need to mentor applicants.

We'll cover details of the application process for our professionally registered grades focussing specifically on the areas that membership applicants are most likely to need assistance with including; production of technical reports and professional review reports and attending professional review interviews.

You'll be given the chance to talk to existing mentors about their experience and what they feel they've gained from mentoring others. You'll also be able to meet individuals who have been mentored to understand more about the type of advice and support that candidates may require.

If you are a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Engineering Technician (EngTech) and would like to help IGEM with the process of assessing the suitability of others for professional registration then this free workshop is for you.

If you've never volunteered with us before then becoming a professional review interviewer is an excellent way for you to support your institution and can contribute to you achieving fellowship with us.

Over the course of the workshop you'll be given all the information that you need to become an approved IGEM interviewer enabling you to support the professional development of new and existing members looking to achieve CEng, IEng or EngTech status.

This free workshop is open to anyone who is interested in joining IGEM or wants to upgrade their membership.

The workshop helps to simplify the application and upgrade procedures.  It is also a good opportunity to speak to trained IGEM interviewers and gain additional advice from experienced engineers and technicians.

At the workshop you will learn:

  • Which is the most suitable grade for you
